Weddings

We are delighted that you are thinking about being married at St Peter & St Paul’s, Worth and it will be our privilege to help to make it a very special day for you.

Churches are more than wedding venues, and a wedding at St Peter and St Paul’s will add a unique spiritual dimension to your ceremony. It also gives you a place to return to, and a relationship with this Church that lasts a lifetime. To begin a conversation about having your wedding at St Peter and St Paul’s, please contact the Parish Office.

Couples can marry in a Church of England church if you can show that one of you:

• Has at any time lived in the parish for a period of at least 6 months,

• or was baptised (christened) in the parish concerned

• or is confirmed, and your confirmation was entered in the register of confirmations for a church or chapel in the parish (this will usually be the case if you were prepared for confirmation in the parish),

• or has at any time regularly attended normal church services in the parish church for a period of at least 6 months

You can also be married in a Church of England church where one of your parents, at any time after you were born:

• Has lived in the parish for a period of at least 6 months

• or has regularly attended normal church services in the parish church for a period of at least 6 months

• or that one of your parents or grandparents was married in the parish

You can therefore build a connection with St Peter and St Paul’s that will enable you to be married here simply by attending services for six months. For any help or advice with the above please contact the Parish Office.

If one or both parties is divorced then a wedding may still be possible, but a gentle conversation will need to be had with the Rector beforehand.

Same-sex couples are currently unable to be married within a Church of England church. However if you would like to discuss options for prayers, or the blessing of a marriage or civil partnership, please contact the Parish Office or Rector.
